Rev. Elisabeth Jones has just begun her ministry with the Congregation of Cedar Park United Church in Pointe Claire, Quebec, returning to congregational ministry after fourteen years of teaching ministry at Vancouver School of Theology and the United Theological College. Fascinated (some would say obsessed) with the roles that Scripture can play in the life of communities of faith, Elisabeth has spent a good deal of her ministry exploring ways to help make the Bible more accessible to people who want to take it seriously, but who draw the line at taking it literally.-

Reading the poem on John The Baptist makes me think of a ragtagged man who stands under the banyan tree in Lahina in Hawaii. He is there every day and has been for a few years. He spouts Scripture. We all think him mad but he always leaves me wondering!
